We set out to try and make a backyard paradise as you see on those television shows and are so jealous of but are well aware that those kind of pool projects are on television for a reason. Mark and Dave of Custom Pools and Landscaping came highly recommended. Our one requirement was to a have a full service company so we were not being put in the position of general contractor between multiple trades. The project started with consultation and then an architectural plan. We approved it and got our quote. The project started on time and finished faster than we expected. The quality and skills of people they have on their team is unbelievable. The project included, demolition, excavation, plumbing, electrical, building structures, a custom designed 28′ waterfall and diving platforms and tonnes of stone all placed with precision. They were respectful of our neighbors and our property. By the end of the project our expectations were exceeded by 150% and all on budget. My Wife and I recently contracted with Custom Pools and Landscaping Inc. for the installation of our in-ground pool. We had interviewed many pool contracting companies in York Region in 2005 and were most impressed by Dave Gordon’s discussion with us about Custom Pools, compared to any other company. He seemed human! We hired Custom Pools with no further research, in spring 2006.

They say the “proof is in the pudding”. Dave’s Crew, not subcontractors but his own team, started work, didn’t waste one minute of time and did an excellent job to the point, barely ten days later (largely due to a rain interruption), we now have a sparkling new pool for our family to exercise and play in. With Custom Pools we were always Comfortable that Dave, Mark and the rest of his team were always the ones doing the installation. Custom Pools is a building machine.

Add to this the fact that Whenever they or We needed anything the crew was very polite and Well mannered. Even to the point of removing shoes when accessing our house for any reason which we greatly appreciated. It was also refreshing to see them clean up at the end of the day’s work, so our neighbours were not sloshing around in mud puddles on the sidewalk. Of course there is dirt with construction but they did their very best to keep it to a minimum.

After construction of a pool there is always a learning curve for the owner. Dave and Mark did an excellent job educating us on how things work and making sure we file our equipment warranties. Of course being new to all of this (I hadn’t operated a pool since l was a kid), l ran into problems right away. Feeling like a bit of a pest I contacted Dave and Mark often after hours and they were still responsive after work completion and really helped us out above and beyond the call of duty. There is no question in my mind that after sale service is very important to Custom Pools.

In my business quality and service to the client are top priorities and I measure other services I purchase in the same way. I also look for safe contractors as I am involved heavily in the construction industry in my business. Given our extremely positive experience with Custom Pools, I highly recommend them to anyone considering them as their contractor, they do excellent work. We wanted to put in a pool for many years and met with many pool companies, but never felt confident signing on the dotted line – until we met Mark from Custom Pools and Landscaping. His honesty and integrity were evident from our first meeting. He valued our opinions, was respectful of our budget, and demonstrated true professionalism from the beginning of the consultation process until our project was completed. Ours was a big project involving a pool and hot tub construction, cabana construction, and complete landscaping of both the back and front yards. Mark put together a comprehensive quote, reviewed it with us in detail to ensure that we were all on the same page, and did not miss a single detail! Mark was sure to keep our expectations in check by providing realistic start and completion dates, keeping in mind possible weather delays and was always transparent about costs. Mark and his team arrived early every morning and worked tirelessly each day, always being respectful of our neighbours, their property and us. Mark’s attention to detail and precision are astounding, spending hours hand chipping stone to achieve the perfect look, to adjusting the most minute measurement to ensure perfection. He was on site each and every day and coordinated each person from his own crew to every Trade. Despite the incredible rain that we had, our project was finished early, on budget, and has completely transformed our backyard. We truly believe that Mark is one of the greats in this business and we have, and will continue to, recommend him to anyone!
